Superintendent's Student Advisory Council
It is the belief of Superintendent Sprinkles that students should be informed and engaged in the education that they receive in the Knox County Public Schools. Applications are now being accepted for the 2017-2018 Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council.
Purpose: The Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council will meet with Superintendent Kelly Sprinkles to discuss how decisions made at the school and district level are affecting students throughout the county. Members serve as liaisons between Superintendent Sprinkles, the Knox County Board of Education, and the students of Knox County.
Eligibility: All 6th, 8th, 10th, and 12th grade students are eligible to apply.
Term of service: Students on the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council during the 2017-2018 school year will serve a term of one year.
When will meetings be held: Meetings are tentatively set to occur once every two months. The meeting will be scheduled for a Monday afternoon from 3:45pm to 5pm. Meetings will be scheduled in advance to allow parents/guardians/schools ample time to work out student transportation logistics.
What will be discussed: A wide variety of topics from teaching and learning, to the school climate and culture, to the obstacles facing students today. While each agenda will include a primary topic of conversation for the meeting, students are invited to share concerns and ideas at any time.
Applications due: September 8, 2017. Mail to: Student Advisory Council, 200 Daniel Boone Drive, Barbourville, Kentucky 40906 or email to firstname.lastname@example.org
